Id like to introduce a photo shoot that took place a couple of weeks ago. Annaliese from A Raftl photography had in mind the perfect location to shoot the latest range from Hilda Mae.
Gorgeous burnt autumn leaves, golden haze and unique and amazing vintage furntiture set the perfect scene.
Also introducing our model Brooke a talented young lady from Sydney who fell into the brief amazingly!

Now come on spring this weather is a bit too cold for my liking! Stay tuned for an array of new designs coming your way!

confessions of a fashionista

An idea came to me the other night as i literally dowsed myself in the latest fashions, trends and what is on the catwalk right now, that not only do i want my clothes to be just well clothes, i want my label to be a visible part of fashion. Any of you who have read my blog before you would have noticed the posts are just of a diary entry of Hilda Mae, but for me to get to those posts and the final pictures, alot goes into the 'behind the scenes'.  So from now on i will be posting a style section each... however often. Its not so much about how and what to wear the Hilda Mae label with but more of a up to date trend/ fashion report that i  am influenced by and what i find super inspiring.

A must have colour scheme somewhere in your wardrobe this A/W is the earthy tones. Not only does it bring out the warmth of your outfits on the chillier Autumn nights, it can add a subtle tone of colour your outfit may be lacking. With this Topshop find not only is it casual for a day look but has a beautiful mustard tone to it that matches neutrals and well as a wide range of denims.
The Marc Jacobs watch is a must have and i may be adding this into this post as i would really love to open it on my birthday in a couple of weeks :) Seriously though with its alternative edgy black band to its extra sparkly face and who wouldn't want it?
While a few of you may be wondering why would anyone after dressing up in such pretty dresses what to wear these workmen style boots, i say RMK  Touch them. Smell them. Wear them. Hey in some cases live in them as i have done in recent weeks you will regret your earlier thoughts. While they may look masculine esk, team them with a layers of girlyness, a touch of class and you have the perfect outfit ready for your day out!
Let me just finish by adding great clothes only looks good with style to boot, and day time is no exception.  You heard it here first!

F I R S T D R E S S

Taking a step back in time i wanted to share with you the very first dress i ever made! This was about 2 years ago now when i went out on a whim to purchase my sewing machine. I used a gorgeous orange print fabric i came across at some markets and a chain from a vintage bag. All in all i wanted to go for a Maurie and Eve style rustic dress.

I came across the wonderful designer Maurie and Eve about 4 years ago now, day dreaming through their website while i was in design school. So throughout all my designs to date i always have to an extent a Maurie and Eve influence throughout my works, whether its from designing, or styling and shooting, they will always be a label i am mesmerized by.

These pictures were taken by the amazing photographer Annaliese Raftl. There are a range of outfits coming up that Annaliese has taken for an assignment. The theme is 'Black and Gold', which she has captured perfectly. The stunning model, Sarah Macready not only captured the urban and classic feel to the brief but shows of the clothes beautifully.

Although i will always keep this dress to look back on, it is nice to see it somewhat 'dressed up' and in action.
Thank you to Annaliese and Sarah for making this happen :)

look book

Over the past couple of days i have been thinking about what to write in my 'about' section on my website. As you have probably realised I'm not much of a writer, not that i don't know what to say, just not knowing how to say it is more of the problem.. If you do know me you would of realised i just keep talking in a round about way until i make sense orrr i maybe i never do :S. I do have a whole lot to say most of the time, but when i click on a blank page all about me and Hilda Mae... i get nothing... fancy that!

I guess that why i like to turn to anything in the form of art hold it up and say, you get it? So hopefully my pictures are a whole lot of words -but i will try my best to get better i promise!!!!

So i had to get that out the way lets start again shall we :)
The photography below is a combination of what my first collection revolves around, i love variation and contrast , i like to put things together that aren't the most predictable. My vision of Bohemian Glamour was my main inspiration. Think a cross between Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen. Or Tree of Life and Cue!

A big big thank you again to the Photographer, Linda Wales, who took absolutely stunning pictures. Model: Sophie Crenigan- a natural beauty and Make Up: Danielle Hampton, a true artist.
More pictures coming from this day with a piece about inspiration! xx Have a good night :)

sneak peek

Just thought id be nice and give you all an insight to the happenings at Hilda Mae lately.
With this very short preview for whats in store ( quite literally in fact!)
A big big thank you to the Photographer, Linda Wales, who took absolutely stunning pictures.
Model: Sophie Crenigan- a natural beauty and Make Up: Danielle Hampton, a true artist.
It takes alot more than garments and styling to create such images and i couldn't be more impressed by the combination of talent that went into creating them.
My vision of Bohemian Glam lives on :)

Retro Prints

So as many of you heard me whine in the past week, I'll gladly inform you i finally got the hat i was after! With mother dear on tow, we ventured up to the shops Thursday for some late night shopping and a bite to eat. I found the perfect hat in country Road which happened to have a 25% off sale. Yippee :) As many of you would relate, a mother daughter combination ( both with a passion for fashion i might add) would struggle to get their shopping and dinner done by 9pm, and as expected we were ushered out the shops a little after 9!

So introducing the Hilda Mae retro print dress along with the bohemian hat.

New Shapes

After sitting in the office all day looking out into the miserable day, i was praying for a miracle, oh please sun, shine through those bloody clouds!
And then it happened the clouds parted and the blue sky moved through right on dusk... its show time!
Here are a few new shapes we were experimenting with..We're glad we tried something new and showed the garments in a different light. What do you all think?

We would also like to introduce the Hilda Mae Fringed Short, A cute chic short with a bohemian edge. Other Hilda Mae clothing included a Polka Dot Jacket with Silver edging, And a Vintage Geometric Sheer top.

More pictures are coming soon, same day different light! :) With love, Leigh Anne

Logo finalised!!

So it took its time, i guess the name was a big factor in this whole thing.. but i have finally settled for not only a logo but my name  Hilda Mae.. What do you think? Now i know i will develop different styles and opinions in the coming months/years and my logo will develop alongside and its exciting to think what it will eventuate to?

The official logo

Hilda Mae, was developed from my Grans name Hilda, who in person is so individual and unique it inspires me to do the same and therefore the name followed. Here are a few more pics from the shoot with added branding!

So here i sit in the office on a dreary Monday lunchtime planning my next lot of outfits to shoot. I'm hoping Thursday afternoon sunset on the jetty! please please rain go away! But tonight i better get the boyf birthday cake sorted out how am i supposed to top my fishing cake from last year?
